The Spinney Primary School
Teaching and Learning Together
Science capital
At the Spinney we are keen to raise our pupil's science capital. Science capital is a combination of children's experiences, knowledge, skills and attitude to science and other STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Our aim is to build our pupil's confidence in science by raising the profile of science in school and facilitating children to adopt a mindset that science is accessible to everyone.
In addition to the national curriculum expectations at The Spinney we offer wide and varied opportunites to pupils throughout their time at the school. These include activities such as: the annual STEAM festival, organising STEM Ambassadors who lead fantastic workshops, outdoor learning especially using the Wild Woods, holding whole school events such a the Big Investigate and by making cross curricula links with science and other subjects wherever possible.
