If your child is absent from school for any reason, for an appointment or because they are unwell, or if they are going to be late, you are asked to call the OPS team in the school office to inform the school attendance administrator. Please call before 9:15am on the first day of absence so that the register can be recorded correctly.
Children should arrive at school at 8:55am for registration at 9:00am. Children arriving after 9:00am will be marked as late (L), children arriving after 9:10am will be marked as unauthorised absence (U) and parents will be able to see this record in the end of term reports. If you child arrives at school after 9:10am you will be asked to sign them in, giving a reason for the lateness, in the late record book at the school office.
Parents are asked to try to make any appointments for outside the school day. We do however, understand that this is not always possible. If you do need to collect your child at any point during the school day, please let your class teacher and the OPS team know. Please come to the front entrance and the OPS staff will go to the classroom to collect your child for you. They will then sign your child out of school on your behalf.
If you would like to take your child out of school for any other reason, this leave must be requested via an absence request form. Please note absence will only be authorised for exceptional circumstances. Holidays are not authorised as a matter of course or for financial reasons. Parents who take their children out of school could face a fine for each period of unauthorised absence. It is therefore important that parents explain clearly the nature of being absent during term time when making their request to the Head Teacher.
If you have any queries regarding absence or punctuality please talk to Ms Jandu one of our School Administrators who will be happy to help.
