52 Stories is a year-round programme of reading and story telling embedded across a cluster of schools in and around Cherry Hinton Village Library which takes place every Saturday morning in Cherry Hinton Library from 10:30-11:15am. Everyone welcome!
The project connects four things: a rolling relay of readers and storytellers including librarians, adult volunteers, young people and children (some VIPs too), The Reading Agency's Summer Reading Challenge, The Reading Activist programme (young people leading activities for younger peers) and a route into an Arts Award.
Although this project started in Cherry Hinton there is the potential of developing this as a Cambridge citywide, countywide and eventually a nationwide approach endorsed by The Reading Agency with the potential also of developing a young library commissioners programme too.
52 Stories was launched on 5th July 2014 and we are looking forward to celebrating our second birthday as well as contributing to a special event - The Big Read at The Big Weekend - for which we need volunteer readers and stewards.
52 Stories takes place at 10.30-11.15am every Saturday morning at Cherry Hinton Library and it is absolutely FREE! In order to make 52 Stories happen, we need YOU! We need a relay of readers from all walks of life who are confident and able to read and bring a story to life. You may be a teacher, a grandparent, a travel agent, anyone with a love of books - we want to hear from you and add you to our database of readers.
