The Governors have agreed that sex and relationships education should be taught in school, and it is taught as part of the PHSCE programme of study (Personal, Health, Social and Citizenship education). Children will receive sex and relationship education lessons throughout their time at The Spinney. The headteacher will work alongside the class teachers in Years 4, 5 and 6 to support the children's learning in this area. Parents and carers will be notified before SRE programme lessons begin and will be informed about which aspects of SRE will be taught in each year group.
We value your support as partners in learning and the children will be encouraged to share their learning with you at home. Please let us know if you do not want your child to receive those aspects of sex education which are not statutory. If you wish to discuss our approach further, please do come to see us.
